Did you know that your vote in the November 5th City Council elections could determine your access to cycling routes and Open Space, a Flagstaff finish for the 2015 USA Pro Challenge, safer streets, and more cycling events in Boulder? A vote for Andrew Shoemaker is a vote for cyclists.
Do you want another Flagstaff finish for the USA Pro Challenge? If Yes, vote for Andrew. Surprisingly, a vocal minority of citizens and some of the candidates they support continue to oppose the same Flagstaff finish that was carried out successfully in 2012 – an event that brought globally-televised coverage to Boulder and its brand. With your support of Andrew, cyclists will have a voice and send a message that the citizens want another Flagstaff finish in 2015. Do you agree that recreation on Open Space should be permissible where protective management practices are undertaken and conflicts between users managed? If Yes, vote for Andrew. Andrew cycles, climbs, hikes, paddles, fly fishes, and runs his dog off-leash on Open Space. While each trail has unique issues, and some are suitable for certain activities and not others, Andrew supports responsible access to Open Space. He worked closely with the Open Space department to carry out the Flagstaff stage of the Pro Challenge with proactive measures and no permanent environmental impact.
Do you want safer streets for cycling? If Yes, vote for Andrew. Andrew understands safe streets and sharing the road. He was the Chair of Bicycle Colorado for years, and he donated his time to bring the lawsuit against the City of Black Hawk that eventually overturned Black Hawk’s bike ban and set a precedent that vehicles must share the road with bikes.
Do you want more cycling events in Boulder? If Yes, vote for Andrew. Andrew brought you the Pro Challenge, and he understands that the citizens of Boulder want more bike events and what it means to the Boulder community.
