I’ve been delinquent in posting about my recent ski adventures. I guess I’ve been spending too much time having fun. On a side note, I don’t know if I’ve even skied five days by December 13th before, aside from my racing days, where I’d have about 20 days under my belt by the time December rolled around. Those frigid and glacial days are behind me. Anyway, let’s make this short and sweet for all involved. All three days were at @coppermtn, with increasingly good conditions. I’ve assembled a dainty illustration for your enjoyment that summarizes it all:

On Saturday night we made our way to Vail (quick drive from @coppermtn) to check out the Barenaked Ladies in concert. Did you hear that it snowed in the Rockies this weekend? It did. Which means that since the concert was outside, it snowed on us. Although my piggies were frozen by the end of the show, it was quite a magical evening. The Barenaked Ladies don’t put on a concert, they put on a show. That too was magical – comedic improv, snow angels, layers and layers of clothing, huge snowflakes, BNL hits and new songs, about 10 feet from the stage amongst a crowd of 8,000, and even Jason Biggs! Kevin, the BNL drummer, recapped the evening on the BNL blog, complete with some photographic evidence of the snow flakes. I think you might even be able to see us in the crowd in the second picture. I

I read Molly Wizenberg’s blog, Orangette. I just love it. It’s frank, honest, full of tasty recipes, organized, and good writing. Molly and her partner opened up a pizza restaurant called Delancey in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood, which I would like to try soon, please. Anypizzasabreakfastfood, they recently hired this woman to create their desserts, and I’m smitten by her blog, for three main reasons: – Her recipes are unique: she takes the kitsch out of marshmallows and candy corn, rekindles life memories around pretzels and apple dumplings, teaches you how to put a spin on ol’ faves like chocolate meringue pie and pecan pie, and inspires creativity with power bars, cottage cheese  (homemade being the assumptive adjective throughout). – The layout and pictures are simple. There’s no messing around, it’s all about food and how to make it delicious. – There’s heart, humility and a story behind every recipe.

Ski Day #2: Oh What a Day. That’s an overstatement. It was a marvelous day, though. My parents live in Carbondale, Colo. This fulfills our dream of having a ski chalet. Only one that lies 35 minutes from the Aspen/Snowmass (@aspensnowmass) mountain activity conglomerate. Unlike ski days on the Front Range, having a place to stay in the Aspen valley means that you don’t need to get up at 5:45 to beat traffic. You can rise at 7:45, eat a leisurely breakfast (which, in the Poncelet family, always includes Nutella, and twice over if skiing is in your near future), be on your way at 8:30, and on the slopes by 9:15. So Snowmass, let’s see. A handful of lifts open, we stuck to Big Burn most of the day. Sneaky’s, to the right of the Burn, was my personal Best in Show for the day, some light light powder,
