I heard about the musical duo Matt and Kim thanks to Pandora, and have been hooked on this song ever since. The tune’s upbeat, and the video looks like it was a ton of fun to shoot. Perfect for a holiday week! Ahora: Matt and Kim, Daylight

On Saturday (11/21), Steve (@SteveLommele), Ryan (@ryanamirault) and I skied at Copper Mountain (@coppermtn). For the three of us, it was our first time on the mountain this year. There were five lifts open, out of Copper’s suite of 23 lifts. We stuck to the American Eagle / Excelerator, and American Flyer lifts. Our first two runs and our last run were off of the former lift combo, while the rest of our runs (6-7) were off of American Flyer. We were skiing by 9 a.m. For a day in mid-November, the snow was remarkably good. The temps were between 20 and 30 degrees Fahrenheit. No powder, even though the weather forecast called for new snow on Saturday, but that was just as well, as the weather was stellar (as evidenced by my gaper goggle tan later that day). Most of the snow on the open runs was man-made, but

If losing a critical football game isn’t embarrassing enough, watching thousands of fans leave in droves before the game is over is even more depressing. With every quarter that passed, I lost hope for a favorable outcome of yesterday’s Broncos/Chargers game. According to my mom, the seven paragliders that flew over Invesco Stadium and onto the field before kickoff were the most exciting part of the game. And my dad fell asleep at the top of the fourth quarter. I fixed that with a hard nudge. As for Steve and me, we stayed awake and paid attention the entire game. I even have bathroom tricks to minimize time away from the game. I would share them with you, but then I would have to wait longer in the secret lines. In any event, as you may know, this particular game was painful to watch. I am a wonderful fan though:

Phew, it’s been a long week! As such, my Friday evening will likely consist of eating food, watching a movie, and conking out. Until then, here’s a tune to nudge me through the day. Ahora: Phoenix, 1901
I’m frustrated with Sarah Palin and with the trivialization of public policy expertise that has resulted in her polluted wake. A few reviews of her book and of her intentions have led me to believe that she is not only planning to further her presence in politics, but perhaps even attempt to run for office again. Only because the first, second, third, and fourth times were so successful. My frustration lies in the fact that I take public policy seriously, and Palin relieving herself all over public policy does us all a disservice. And remember, that regardless of your political persuasion, your elected officials do develop, you guessed it, policy, and are mostly qualified because of their education, experience, and character. Policy development is not easy – you must not only take into account every person’s or group’s needs and interests, but you must display compassion, an understanding of short-

November 17? It feels like November 30. Never ending month. Might be time to get out of dodge, do something new! Here’s the perfect soundtrack. Ahora: Vampire Weekend, Walcott
Blogging is really neat – it gets more people writing, it’s just a fun and personal way of communicating, and by not using my phone as much I can avoid the misery of my AT&T call playing ping pong with a dead zone. I’m been thinking about blog overload though — not so much overload with the amount of blogs that exist, but in regards to the regularity of new blog content. There might be some outliers, but bloggers tend to hope for people to actually read their blog. They can advertise, spread the word through other social media venues, hope for extreme popularity, or market themselves in other ways. But how do you create content that truly engages readers, and makes them come back? I’m not entirely interested in marketing myself and steering loads of readers over to this blog, but I’d like for people to enjoy what they

We ended up with hundreds of pictures from our wedding – ceremony shots, group shots, food, music, etc. This is my favorite picture from the wedding, mostly because of the setting, the anticipation, and the look on our faces. To me, it almost reminds me of the first shot or the last shot of a movie. People as themselves, not posing, in their element, right before or after a big event. I tend to prefer natural shots over posed. This certainly wasn’t the most stunning picture from the wedding, but it was the most organic and natural. Here’s the song we had our band, Lonesome Traveler play, as we walked back down the aisle. I loved it before the wedding, and now it has a special meaning. Ahora: Bob Dylan, You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere
There’s nothing wrong with Taylor Swift. She’s a creative songwriter, and if Kanye doesn’t like her, she must be good. Besides, Kanye’s main interests are the CAPS-LOCK key, Hennessey, contempt and pretention. What does that say. In any event, I love Taylor Swift, she’s only 19, she was awesome on SNL, she wins awards, and she deserves it it all. Oh c’mon, stop it. Ahora: Taylor Swift, You Belong With Me
It’s perfect movie season. However, I won’t go to a movie if I have a bad feeling about it. Chances, are, it won’t be good and I’ll have remorse about paying to spend time in a human popcorn box. I’m not afraid to trust Rotten Tomatoes for movies. Adam Smith believed that we should maximize everyone’s expertise; this includes movie critics. If all the movie critics in the U.S. like a movie, chances are, I will too. I find that if a movie is above 78%, it will be good and I will like it. If a movie is anywhere between 53% and 77%, the movie is probably good, but has some weird elements that turn off some critics. I use personal judgment when deciding to see this movie. If those weird elements are up my alley, I will enjoy the flick. The weird element in “Where the Wild Things
